New York ~ Handspun Cotton Jamdani

After prolonged sessions of untimely rains, Kolkata saw some sunshine today.. the much awaited “Shoroter roddur “ and guess what, we received this sunshine hued jamdani this morning.. fresh out of the loom! We were ecstatic not only because a new saree reminds us that the festivities are not over, but for a very endearing reason ! The Statue of Liberty in aquamarine color is sketched by a talented lovely little artist, Rai. She happened to see our ‘Paris’ saree and thoughtfully asked us how that picture could come on a saree! We told her that we have magicians who can draw anything on the canvas of sarees and even she can draw something and we can make it appear on sarees!! The 10 year old was fascinated by the idea and that very evening sent us this sketch!! We didn’t waste any time and sent it for weaving. See how beautifully it has come out.. vibrant, joyous, liberating !! This saree is giving a perfect vacation vive, so much so that we want to unleash the Columbus in us , pack our bags and fly straight to the harbors of New York … who wants to break free with us?? ?
