BANJARAN III – LAMBANI HAND EMBROIDERY ON VIDARBHA TUSSAR
Lambadi / Labanki / Gor-boli, also known as Banjari, is the language of the once-nomadic Banjara community of India, belonging to the Indo-Aryan language group. Historically, the Banjaras migrated from Rajasthan to South India with the Mughal army in the 16th century, eventually settling in the Bijapur district of Karnataka.
Lambani women have a rich tradition of creating intricate embroidered textiles from leftover scraps—pulling threads from old saris, stitching patchwork by hand, and adorning them with embroidery, mirrors, cowrie shells, beads, and coins. Over time, this vibrant craft has evolved, finding its place on the global fashion map while staying rooted in community heritage.
This saree is a stunning example of that legacy:
A handcrafted Lambani saree on pure Vidarbha tussar, paired with an exquisitely embroidered blouse piece—an heirloom that celebrates culture, craftsmanship, and the spirit of the artisans behind it.
